Walhalla is a small, picturesque and historic mountain township in the Gippsland district's Baw Baw Ranges in Victoria, in the south-eastern corner of mainland Australia.  

Walhalla was once one of Australia's richest towns and home to over 4000 gold seekers. This sleepy mountainside town is today frozen in time and is home to only 20 residents. History and heritage

  Revel in the history that followed after the discovery of Cohen's Reef which is a three kilometre vein of gold running through Walhalla. You will learn about the tough living of the miners, pan for gold down to Stringers Creek and then explore the old shops, hotels, churches and school built in the nineteenth century when the town was at its peak.

January and February are the hottest months throughout Victoria, with average maximum temperatures around 20°C in the High Country, 25°C along the coast and up to 35°C in the north-west of the state. In winter, maximum temperatures range from below 10°C in the High Country (less than 3°C on peaks) to 13°C in coastal areas and 17°C in the north-west. Spring has the highest amount of rainfall, while Summer is the peak period and popular hotels can often be booked out. The ski season is from July to early September.
