Fringed by white beaches, and shaded by coconut palms, the silver ribbon of the Swahili coastline offers the ultimate tropical paradise. Bright white against the blue sky, set in extensive tropical gardens, the architecture of the Serena Beach Hotel and Spa replicates the winding lanes and colourful market places of a traditional 13th century Swahili town. At the heart of our Mombasa beach resort lies the coral-built ‘Fortress of Tranquility' of the exquisite ‘Maisha' Mind, Body and Spirit Spa.
Our resort is conveniently near Mombasa. The resort itself is on Shanzu Beach just 30 kilometres from the city.
By road: transfers by road from Mombasa take approximately one hour.
By air: a ‘meet and greet' service for guests arriving from Moi International Airport Mombasa, is provided.
Room
Our luxury ensuite rooms are accommodated in two single-storey dedicated buildings, which lie to the right and left of the main reception and dining areas. Each tastefully-appointed room features a Maasai-inspired hand-painted wall fresco, king-sized bed or luxurious twins, lavish all-encompassing mosquito-curtaining, bathroom (with walk-in shower), writing/vanity unit, and private veranda. Triple rooms can be made available. Our accommodation is well suited for leisure and business, with our convenient location near Mombasa and our stunning beach surroundings.
Village Standard Rooms
Our Mombasa accommodation includes 66 Village Rooms, each presented in the style of a 13th century Swahili village, with winding lanes, squares and market places. Presented in twin-level modules, the ground floor rooms have external seating terraces, while the upstairs rooms have their own private balconies. Depending on their location within the village, the rooms either enjoy sea views, or look out over the charming central squares and gardens of the village.
Garden Rooms
Located in the garden wing of the hotel, the 48 Garden Rooms are surrounded by lawns and palm trees, and look down across the grounds to the sea.
Presented in cool sea blue and white, each spacious ensuite room has either twins or a queen-sized bed with luxurious mosquito nets. Double doors open onto either a private balcony or a terrace, with access direct to the grounds.
Superior Prime Rooms
Our 32 newly completed and exceptionally spacious Prime Rooms are presented in traditional Swahili style featuring traditional niches, fretwork cabinets and brightly coloured coastal cotton soft furnishings in either red white and yellow or cool blue.
Each room has its own spacious balcony with views over the gardens of the hotel.
Family Rooms
Accessed by a short corridor, the adult's room is luxuriously appointed with a king-sized double bed with walk-in mosquito net, sumptuous sea-blue and gold Swahili-styled furnishings, a fully-stocked mini-bar, digital multi-channel TV, direct dial telephone and 24-hour internet connectivity; while the spaciously luxurious twin bathroom allows for the use of two people at once. The room also features a generous balcony with access to the children's room next door - should the parents desire it.The hotel also offers a children's animation programme; children's menus, a pizza restaurant and ice-cream parlour, baby-sitting services, nightly entertainment (clowns, acrobats etc), supervised nature trails, a delightful butterfly centre and sea turtle programme and a wide range of activities: ping pong, tennis, volley ball, pedalos, wind-surfing, yachting, swimming pool, water aerobics, coconut harvesting and more....
Each family suite has a twin-bedded children's room with digital multi-channel TV, mini bar (which can be emptied on request), direct dial telephone, Internet connectivity, 24-hour room service and a private bathroom.

The new Zanzibar Suites offer a luxurious and spacious bedroom with king-sized bed and a separate sitting room and terrace.
The Lamu Suites
Located right on the sea front, with magnificent sea views, the Lamu Suites offer a double bedroom and separate sitting area, plus outside terrace.
The Presidential Suite
Featuring its own private staircase and imposing double doors, the Presidential Suite is presented on two levels and offers a spacious reception room, a private sitting room, a master bedroom and a large terrace with dining area and al fresco shower.
