Champman’s Peak Drive, know to locals as ‘Chappies’, is known as one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world and made it onto the official East India charts in 1607 after the skipper of a British ship was becalmed in what is now known as Hout Bay and sent his pilot, John Chapman ashore to look for provisions.
